Ecstatic Trance Dance, a moving meditation
'get out of your head and into your body.
Breathe into the sea inside and dance your inner fire.'
Thank you to all you beautiful beings who shared the dance with me over the last four years. I am currently taking a break from the ETD workshops to focus on other projects. My dance workshops are an opportunity to dance freestyle to a variety of rhythms, grooves and beats. No experience is required! It also doesn't matter what state of physical fitness you are in because you can honor where and who you are right NOW in this process.
Enjoy being YOU, Experiment, Play, BE--in an uplifting atmosphere, FREE of judgement and expectation.
The structure of the ETD workshop is designed to maximise the experience of being fully present, in the NOW, free of mind chatter. We use dance and music to get into our bodies because when we focus on our sensual feeling experience, the relentlessly judging mind stops, and we get to enjoy a different way of being, which can be ecstatic! I remember describing my experience of ETD before I trained as a facilitator as 'a bit like getting 'high' on my own energy by completely letting go, dancing to unfamiliar music, knowing no one is watching.' We start with a warm-up 'body scan' to music; then we shake for a while; then dance dance dance however you feel like it, followed by a period of complete relaxation and finishing with a brief guided visualisation. For much of the time, I encourage keeping eyes closed because this helps free the inner critic from either feeling self conscious or getting distracted by what others are doing.
Bring extra layers and/or a blanket for the rest at the end of the dance which will be lying down.
Wear comfortable clothing in layers to accommodate changing body temperature, and soft shoes or slippers with grip if you don't want to dance barefoot.
I look forward to dancing with you! Please call or email if you have any questions or if you want to be on the mailing list: 01424 460 477 marybethhaas@ymail.com
